Mastin Labs Fuji Pro Pack Review

We are so excited to share a behind-the-scenes review of our experience editing our digital images with Mastin Labs Lightroom Presets. We have been editing with Mastin presets for a long time now and are loving the new Fuji Pro pack that they just released. As film/digital hybrid shooters ourselves, we love that these presets were created by a hybrid shooter and that they are subtle enough to use on an entire wedding. We have used several other film emulation presets in the past (including VSCO and Replicrome) but often had a hard time achieving consistency when editing an entire wedding. Here are some before and after examples of photos straight out of camera vs. photos edited with Mastin's Fuji Pro Pack. We only make small tweaks to the presets to get finished images we are really really happy with! Honestly, we have been so thrilled with these presets, and would have shared about them for free, but Mastin is giving us a little kick back for any of our friends who decide to buy! Things we are loving about the new Fuji Pro Pack: We are specifically liking the Fuji 160NS-C preset. When we shoot film, we favor shooting fuji, so this preset seems like the best fit! It has a really clean look, adjusts the greens and skin tones and gives the option to add some really pretty medium format grain.  If the preset seems too vibrant in color at first, adding the grain seems to neutralize it a bit. Other than adjusting white balance and exposure, sometimes we just have to slightly desaturate the the reds and greens in certain photos to achieve the look we want.

These presets won't be the perfect fit for every photographer. We mainly shoot with prime lenses at a very low aperture (1.2 - 1.4) and only use flash when we absolutely have to (usually just during receptions). From what we've seen, the Mastin presets seem to work really well for photographers that shoot really wide open, and who overexpose slightly, similar to film shooters.

We thought it might be helpful to see how these preset work on a different shoot as well. Below are a few images from a recent engagement shoot. Love the look of Erica and Frank's skin tones and the blue hue in her dress. Below, the left image is straight out of camera and the right image is edited using the Mastin Fuji Pro Pack.
